Boston Studio Maternity Session

Maternity sessions are very popular during the late spring through the summer months when the warm weather allows for an outdoor session. But maternity sessions can be just as fun and beautiful in the studio! This session was shot in early spring, when it’s not quite warm enough to be outdoors and everything is still pretty gray and bare (thanks, New England weather!) I wanted to be able to incorporate elements of spring as best I could for this client so we opted for floral backdrops and crowns (and an amazing wardrobe to boot!). Studio sessions don’t have to be boring – you just have to know how to spice them up a bit!

If your style is much more clean and classic, a studio maternity session is likely the best option for you. You don’t have to worry about the weather, for one, which is huge especially since our weather fluctuates here daily. The studio is also a much more intimate and private environment, so if you want to get a little more adventurous and do bare belly or semi-nude images then you’ve picked the perfect spot. So don’t let the thought of a studio maternity session limit you or your creativity. Yes, the beach is beautiful, but you can get equally beautiful images indoors and not have to worry about taking half the beach home with you in your shoes 😉

Maternity sessions are a beautiful way to celebrate your growing family. You will love having these images to look back on after your baby arrives! I recommend booking your maternity session in your second trimester and scheduling it between 30 to 35 weeks. This timing is ideal because most expectant moms have a nice round baby bump by this point, but aren’t yet super uncomfortable! These sessions can take place outdoors at a location of your choice within the North Shore area or in the studio during the colder winter months. The studio has a wardrobe of gorgeous custom maternity gowns that are available to any client booking a maternity session.
