This was my very first Plum Island maternity session and it was an absolute dream! The pandemic has certainly made photography difficult. Even though we can be outdoors shooting, lots of my favorite locations have imposed restrictions to keep everyone safe. When I realized I wasn’t going to be able to use my go-to beach in Gloucester, my clients recommended Plum Island. I have only been there a handful of times, so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of the lighting or the location. To my delight, we were greeted by a near-empty beach and the most divine soft lighting thanks to some sheer cloud cover. Truly, I have never had better lighting conditions at the beach in my entire life.
Not only did we have perfect weather, but my client’s not-quite 2 year old son was just adorable. While his mom and I focused on her portraits, he and dad got some one on one time in the sand and the waves. It was a picture perfect evening!

Maternity sessions are best scheduled between 30-35 weeks. During this time, your bump is prominent but you are not yet at the stage where activity is too uncomfortable. Sessions can take place outdoors (May through October) or indoors at my Beverly, MA studio.
